Things that make you go Hmmmmm....

If your memory goes back to the early nineties, you will remember Arsenio Hall's running routine, Things that make you go hmmmm....

Hillary Clinton has stated that she would testify publicly and has asked that her emails be released to the public.  Rather than call her before the committee, Trey Gowdy continues to try to create headlines by changing the playing field.  Hillary has been ready all along and will go before them any time they call.  Issuing the invitation is their role, not hers.

As for Mr. Gowdy's concern about "security of information,"  Hillary Clinton,  of course,  has the common sense while testifying under oath to suggest an alternate way to provide sensitive and classified information to the committee - common sense ostensibly lacking on the Republican side as it was Jason Chaffetz who told the world live on C-SPAN that  "the annex" was something other than a State Department facility.

Embedded bolding below is my own.

House Panel Seeks Private Talk With Hillary Clinton About Email

Mr. Gowdy said the committee believed that “a transcribed interview would best protect Secretary Clinton’s privacy, the security of the information queried, and the public’s interest in ensuring this committee has all information needed to accomplish the task set before it.”
But, Mrs. Clinton indicated on Tuesday that she wanted to give her testimony in a public setting. In a written statement, a spokesman for her said she had told the committee months ago that she was prepared to testify at a public hearing. “It is by their choice that hasn’t happened,” said the spokesman, Nick Merill. “To be clear, she remains ready to appear at a hearing open to the American public.”
The committee’s ranking member, Elijah Cummings, Democrat of Maryland, said the panel should hold a public hearing instead of a private interview. “Rather than drag out this political charade into 2016 and selectively leak portions of a closed-door interview, the committee should schedule the public hearing, make her records public, and refocus its efforts on the attacks in Benghazi,” he said.

Hillary Clinton Appears in BBC Documentary

The channel is not available from my provider, and the video cannot be viewed outside the UK, so if you are there, lucky you!  For the record, though, Hillary was interviewed for a BBC documentary that aired on BBC2 last night.  Here is the link to the video, for those who can access it,  followed by a review.

Hillary Clinton: The Power of Women, TV review: Women's rights isn't about the battle of the sexes - it's the inequality, stupid

The documentary was a story of what's happened to women in the world since Clinton gave a landmark speech at the UN's Fourth World Congress on Women
Before BBC2 turned to the possible next US President in Hillary Clinton: the Power of Women, it launched a new documentary series The Ladykillers: Pest Detectives. The latter's premise was based on the fact that a mere six per cent of pest-control professionals in the UK are women. It's a classic bit of man-bites-dog TV commissioning. Look at the women! Killing the rats! Fancy that!

President and Secretary Clinton on the Passing of Lee Kuan Yew

Mar 22
2015
Statement
Hillary and I mourn the passing of Lee Kuan Yew.  Prime Minister Lee transformed Singapore into one of the world¹s strongest and most sustainable economies.  He also firmly established his country as an important friend and partner of the United States.  After leaving office, he continued to offer brilliant analysis and wise advice to those who sought it.  We will always be grateful for our fascinating conversations with him over the years.  Our thoughts are with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, his entire family, and all the people of Singapore.

We have a huge fun deficit in America. And we need to figure out how to fill that fun deficit, certainly for our kids, but also for the rest of us.

Tweets from Hillary Clinton: The GOP Budget

twitter_banner

Repeal of the ACA would let insurers write their own rules again, and wipe out coverage for 16 million Americans.
Making college more affordable is an investment in our kids and economic growth. Cuts to Pell Grants hold our kids back.
Our nation's future - jobs & economic growth - depends on investments made today. The GOP budget fails Americans on these principles.
Budgets reflect our priorities. They should help families get ahead, educate our kids, and spark small business growth.
