Hillary Rodham Clinton & Chelsea Clinton on "Gutsy Women" and Trump

CBS News September 29, 2019, 10:13 AM

At the Eleanor Roosevelt Memorial in Manhattan, Hillary Rodham Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea, look upon a 20th-century giant. "I think she was one of the greatest Americans in our history," Hillary told "Sunday Morning" host Jane Pauley.
"She is a kind of transcendent figure over generations because of all that she did in her life," Chelsea said.

Hillary added, "I just find that depiction of her to be as I imagine her – thoughtfully listening, taking it all in."
And at the New York Historical Society, they handled a racquet from the hands of tennis legend Billie Jean King. And they examined a century-old banner from the Women's Suffrage Movement. "I have one of these at my home," Hillary said. "I have it over the fireplace; I look at it every day."
The mementos breathe life into a collection of stories called "The Book of Gutsy Women," co-authored by mother and daughter, and published by CBS' Simon & Schuster.

Chelsea Clinton on Civility

Chelsea has penned an eloquent op-ed on recent events. I'm with her!

Trump Has Helped Mainstream Hate, But This Election Is Our Chance To Push Back

Chelsea Clinton

Over the past two years, our country has been engaged in an ongoing conversation about “civility.” From the Women’s March to NFL players who kneel in protest of racial inequality and injustice, from people interrupting Trump administration officials out to dinner to protestors interrupting Supreme Court nomination hearings to register their dissent, various pundits and leaders across the political spectrum have expressed distaste for what they see as a rise in tactics that are uncivil, unproductive, and anti-democratic.

I’ve watched this debate unfold with frustration the entire time because it seems very clear to me that calling out bigotry and standing up for human rights — and confronting leaders who promote and exploit racism, xenophobia, transphobia, sexism, anti-Semitism either in their rhetoric or their policies or both — is the very definition of civil behavior. But in the past week the conversation reached an entirely new low.

People, largely Republican commentators equated confronting public servants in restaurants to bombs being sent to my parents’ home — as if explosive material and threats of violence are at all equivalent to demands for answers, accountability, and a recognition of shared humanity. These demands may be coming from righteously angry people, and they may make some uncomfortable, but in no way are these peaceful protests, even if yelled out, equivalent to actual threats and acts of violence.

Hillary Clinton Returns to CGIU

Hillary's last appearance at CGIU was in March 2015, a little more than a month before she declared her candidacy for the presidency. After she joined the race, she withdrew from Clinton Foundation affairs as was proper. Now she is free to return to the delight of the participants.

Happy Birthday, President Clinton!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILL! SIGN HIS CARD
Later this month, our family will celebrate Bill's 72nd birthday with our grandchildren, plenty of cake, and yes, balloons!
I’m asking you to help us mark this occasion by signing his birthday card and supporting the wonderful work he and Chelsea are doing through the Clinton Foundation.
From the time we met as law students at Yale, I’ve always loved and admired Bill’s desire to help others. Since he left office, Bill has continued his legacy of public service by focusing tirelessly on finding new and innovative ways to improve the lives of people across the country and around the world.
For the past 17 years, the Clinton Foundation has launched groundbreaking programs to create economic opportunity, improve public health, and inspire civic engagement. I’m incredibly proud to say that, because of the Foundation’s work and partnerships:
  • More than 900,000 children’s books have been distributed to underserved families across the United States – helping more children prepare for success in school.
  • Roughly 150,000 pounds of medical aid supplies were airlifted to Puerto Rico with support from the Clinton Foundation in the wake of the devastating 2017 hurricane season – and the Foundation created a CGI Action Network with businesses, nonprofits, and advocates who are committed to building a more resilient future for the people of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and across the Caribbean region.
I can’t think of a more meaningful birthday present for Bill than signing his birthday card and making a contribution to the Clinton Foundation that directly supports these efforts. Whether you’re a supporter or a partner who helps the Foundation conduct their work in the U.S. and around the world – you're working every day to change lives, together.
With the support of people like you, there’s no limit to what the Foundation can achieve.
In honor of my husband’s birthday, please consider signing his birthday card and donating to the Foundation. Let’s continue to do everything we can to change the world today and forge a brighter tomorrow.
Bill, Chelsea, and I can’t thank you enough.
Sincerely,
Hillary

Clintons Celebrate Presidents Day with Grandkids

Bill and Hillary Clinton celebrated Presidents Day by taking grandkids, Charlotte and Aidan, to see Sesame Street Live. The following night, Hillary and Chelsea had a girls' night out. Great pics here! I'll say it right up front: I take issue with the word failed here. Ripped off is more like it.

Bill and Hillary Clinton have been on grandparent duty this week, coming down to New York City to spend some quality time with their two grandchildren.
On Monday, which happened to be president's day, the former president and failed presidential candidate took their three-year-old granddaughter Charlotte and one-year-old grandson Aiden to Sesame Street Live in Madison Square Garden.
It was the second year that Hillary had treated her kids to the show. During last year's show, Aiden was still a baby and had to be carried around by his mom. This year, he spent part of the time sitting on his grandpa's lap, while Charlotte took a seat next to her grandma.
