Hillary Clinton's Statement on the Paris Agreement

Hillary Clinton Statement on the Paris Climate Change Agreement

Hillary Clinton released the below statement following the conclusion of an international climate agreement at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The agreement solidifies greenhouse gas pollution reduction targets from more than 180 countries accounting for more than 90 percent of global emissions; establishes transparency provisions to measure global progress and hold countries accountable; and mobilizes financial support and private-sector investment to help developing countries adapt to the impacts of climate change and achieve sustainable economic growth.
“I applaud President Obama, Secretary Kerry and our negotiating team for helping deliver a new, ambitious international climate agreement in Paris. This is an historic step forward in meeting one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century—the global crisis of climate change.
“The Paris agreement is testament to America’s ability to lead the world in building a clean energy future where no one is left out or left behind. And it was made possible in part by every person, business owner, and community in the United States and around the world that stepped up to prove we don’t have to choose between growing our economy and protecting our kids’ health and future—we can do both.
“But we will only succeed if we redouble our efforts going forward to drive innovation, increase investment, and reap the benefits of the good-paying jobs that will come from transitioning to a clean energy economy. The next decade of action is critical—because if we do not press forward with driving clean energy growth and cutting carbon pollution across the economy, we will not be able to avoid catastrophic consequences.
“We cannot afford to be slowed by the climate skeptics or deterred by the defeatists who doubt America’s ability to meet this challenge. That’s why as President, I will make combating climate change a top priority from day one, and secure America’s future as the clean energy superpower of the 21st century.”

#SMH At a Loss for Words

This is how the attack began during the concert at Bataclan Theatre in Paris.  Turn your speakers on to hear it.

Published on Nov 13, 2015
New video shows the tense moments outside Bataclan Theatre in Paris where an attack occurred during a music concert.

What you hear are automatic weapons, likely kalashnikovs since several were found in a rental car near an attack scene.

This is what Hillary Clinton said last night at the Democratic Presidential Debate.

“This is an emergency.”
Since the last Democratic debate—a mere 32 days ago—nearly 3,000 people have died from gun violence in the United States.
Hillary made her voice loud and clear at tonight’s debate: It’s time to act. And she has a plan to prevent gun violence.
  1. Increase background checks.
  2. Put the safety of communities over the profits of the gun lobby.
  3. Keep guns from domestic abusers, other violent criminals, and the severely mentally ill.

This is what Donald Trump said about the Paris attacks at a rally.

Published on Nov 14, 2015
Donald Trump said Saturday that the terrorist attacks in Paris "would've been a much different situation" if the city had looser gun laws.
"When you look at Paris -- you know the toughest gun laws in the world, Paris -- nobody had guns but the bad guys. Nobody had guns. Nobody," Trump said at a rally here. "They were just shooting them one by one and then they (security forces) broke in and had a big shootout and ultimately killed the terrorists."
"You can say what you want, but if they had guns, if our people had guns, if they were allowed to carry --" Trump said, pausing as the crowd erupted into raucous applause, "-- it would've been a much, much different situation."

#Prayers4Paris from Bill and Hilalry Clinton

11-13-15-prayforparis

All our prayers are with the people of France tonight. We must stand side-by-side every step of the way with France and our allies around the world to wage and win the struggle against terrorism and violent extremism. Even in this darkest night, Paris remains the City of Light. No terrorist attack will ever dim the spirit of the French people or our common commitment to the democratic values we share. - HillaryClinton

"Our prayers are with the people of France tonight, but that is not enough." —Hillary at the ‪#‎DemDebate‬

Photoshow: Hillary Clinton in Paris with President Hollande

Many here will remember that when Libya was boiling over in March, 2011, Mme. Secretary visited Paris twice in a week (with trips in between to Cairo and Tunis). On March 19, her second visit,  she greeted then-President Sarkozy triumphal in having convinced President Obama to cooperate in establishing a no-fly zone over Libya:  Hillary Clinton à Paris : Chapitre Deux.

Reminiscent of those scenes in the courtyard of the Elysée Palace, was her greeting there today from new French President François Hollande and  Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius while yet another Arab nation faces crisis.   She is in Paris participating in a meeting of Foreign Ministers at the Friends of the Syrian People initiative.
