Hillary Clinton Honored With Courageous Leadership Award in SF

Hillary Clinton received a standing ovation during her appearance at a gun violence prevention even in San Francisco on Thursday night.
The former U.S. Secretary of State under President Barack Obama spoke at the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence 25th anniversary dinner, where former Rep. Gabby Giffords awarded Clinton the Courageous Leadership Award for her ongoing efforts to strengthen common sense gun laws.
Clinton said her gun safety position made her a target of the gun lobby during her campaign for president.

Hillary Clinton, in SF visit, calls gun safety ‘a political necessity’

Updated 11:02 pm, Thursday, June 14, 2018
Speaking to an audience of gun control advocates in San Francisco, Hillary Clinton said Thursday that this year’s voting for members of Congress should “finally be the election that turns the tide against the gun lobby.”
“The vast majority of Americans are on our side,” the former secretary of state and Democratic presidential candidate said at a Hyatt Regency dinner gathering of the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, which presented her with its Courageous Leadership Award. “So we are winning the debate. But now we’ve got to get everyone to vote on this issue.”
“It will not be easy,” she said, recalling the National Rifle Association’s multimillion-dollar participation in the 2016 presidential campaign.
President Trump, Clinton said, “did everything he could to ingratiate himself with the gun lobby, and is now doing everything he can to gut existing laws.” She cited his approval of legislation last year that allowed some mentally disabled people to buy guns and his removal of the names of 500,000 fugitives from the federal background check system.

Hillary Clinton's Book Tour Watch: Some Long-Time Friends See Hillary Again!

My friend Mark G. Murphy was one of the famous 300 (+) Hillary Clinton delegates to sign the petition asking that her name be put in nomination on the convention floor in August, 2008.  He has remained a solid Hillary Clinton supporter over these years and saw her at the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco Wednesday evening.  Today he tweeted his picture with Hillary and gave me permission to share it.  He looks so handsome with her.  I believe that green button is his 300 pin.  Looks like he might also be sporting a Ready for Hillary tie.  Great picture, Mark!  So happy for you!  Hillary looks happy to see you!

In 2008, another longtime friend of mine,  Amy Dugan,  was Hillary's Congressional Coordinator in her Ohio district.  She attended Hillary's book signing in Dayton today and not only got to see and talk to Hillary but also introduced her husband to Hillary and ended up front and center in this news report!  You look great, Amy!

Tuesday, April 8th

Hillary Rodham Clinton served as the 67th U.S. Secretary of State from 2009 until 2013, after nearly four decades in public service. Her "smart power" approach to foreign policy repositioned American diplomacy and development for the 21st century. Clinton played a central role in restoring America’s standing in the world, reasserting the United States as a Pacific power, imposing crippling sanctions on Iran and North Korea, responding to the Arab Awakening and negotiating a ceasefire in the Middle East. Earlier, as First Lady and Senator from New York, she traveled to more than 80 countries as a champion of human rights, democracy, and opportunities for women and girls. Clinton also worked to provide health care to millions of children, create jobs and opportunity, and support first responders who risked their lives at Ground Zero. In her historic campaign for President, Clinton won 18 million votes.

Later on April 8 Hillary will speak  to the World Affairs Council of Oregon in Portland.

Hillary Clinton Addresses Realtors in San Francisco

Speaking to a private crowd of 10,000 realtors at the Moscone Center in San Francisco this evening,  Hillary Clinton emphasized the importance of home ownership as an aspect of the American Dream.  Noting that wealth and poverty exist everywhere but that our middle class sets us apart, she affirmed the role realty plays in American culture and called herself a realtor's nightmare referring to the time when, as First Lady, she was house hunting in Westchester County with Secret Service in tow.  Once again deflecting the 2016 question, she reportedly drew chants of  "Just say yes" from the crowd.   Cameras and recording devices were banned (along with an irate press), but participants managed to send out a few pics via various social media.
