Secretary Clinton to Deliver Remarks at CARE's 2010 National Conference May 11

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will deliver remarks at CARE’s 2010 National Conference on May 11 at 11:25 a.m. at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. Secretary Clinton will join Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL), Representative Lois Capps (D-CA), Representative Kay Granger (R-TX), Representative Nita Lowey (D-NY), First Lady of Sierra Leone Sia Koroma, Humanitarian and Author Malaak Compton-Rock and CARE Advocate for Maternal Health Christy Turlington Burns at the conference.

Secretary Clinton and Afghan President Karzai to Participate in a Moderated Discussion at the U.S. Institute of Peace on May 13

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Afghan President Hamid Karzai will participate in a moderated discussion at the U.S. Institute of Peace on Thursday, May 13 at 2:30 p.m.

The discussion will be webcast live at http://www.usip.org/webcast.html.

There is one more thing tomorrow. Hillary is not directly involved, but it addresses a project I have had in mind, and that is virtual classrooms for Haiti. Distance education is on the agenda.

Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs to Host Haiti Tech Meet-Up

The U.S. Department of State will host a conference to explore how technology efforts are helping to rebuild Haiti better on May 10, 2010, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in the East Auditorium of the George C. Marshall Conference Center. Members of the private sector, non-governmental organization (NGO) community, academia, Haitian Diaspora and media will be briefed on efforts to incorporate text capability into the emergency system, mobile-granting/banking, resource allocation, distance education, building community watch groups and other critical areas where technology can provide opportunities for Haitian citizens.
