Tuesday on Hillary Clinton's Agenda

Secretary Clinton hosts "Diplomacy at Home for the Holidays"

Notice to the Press
Washington, DC
December 13, 2010

Tomorrow, Secretary Clinton will host her annual “Diplomacy at Home for the Holidays” event honoring the families and loved ones of officers on unaccompanied tours. The event begins at 4:30pm in the Benjamin Franklin State Dining Room. The event will feature entertainment by the Ballet Theater of Maryland performing a scene from The Nutcracker, the Children’s Chorus of Washington, and the Military District of Washington.

This year's holiday theme at the State Department is “A Season for Giving” – celebrating all those who make sacrifices to give to others – whether their country, their community or their family. The Office of the Chief of Protocol has partnered with Time Inc.’s InStyle to decorate the State Department’s Diplomatic Reception Rooms for the holidays. The goal of the partnership is to decorate the Diplomatic Reception Rooms for the holidays in honor of their 50th anniversary next year, showcase the historical significance and contemporary use of the rooms, and honor the hardworking State Department employees and their families who endure long periods of separation due to postings in dangerous places around the world.
