Helen Keller International Bestows Humanitarian Award on Hillary Clinton

More than 330 supporters and trustees gathered at Christie’s Auction House in New York to celebrate this year’s theme “The Spirit of a Woman,” and recognize the need to empower and support women as mothers, breadwinners and community leaders, with a powerful role to play in alleviating poverty.

Event highlights included The Honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton accepting the Helen Keller Humanitarian Award in recognition of her tireless dedication to the global fight against undernutrition and improving food and nutrition security around the world.
“The leadership from this organization, rooted in such a remarkable woman, has changed so many lives and so many minds over the last century," said Secretary Clinton. "I'm proud of the work we've done together."

Hillary Clinton accepts humanitarian award in NYC


NEW YORK (AP) — Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton touted the efforts of a group combatting malnutrition and blindness during an awards speech in New York City.
Clinton delivered the remarks on Wednesday while being honored with the 2013 Helen Keller Humanitarian Award from Helen Keller International.

Clinton praised ground-tested approaches to fighting the maladies, like distributing Vitamin A supplements and teaching villagers in impoverished countries to grow nutrient-rich food in home gardens.
