Hillary Clinton: The Week in Pictures

The Secretary of State, back in D.C. after another whirlwind tour in South America and the Caribbean, plunged into her duties Monday morning with the release of the 2010 Trafficking in Persons Report at the State Department. Later in the day, she spoke at the Diplomacy Briefing Series Conference on Sub-Saharan Africa.

Tuesday she hosted Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis. I did not mention it at the time, but the PM is very young-looking! He is also quite handsome (shallow comment of the day).

Wednesday she gave two addresses, first at the 2010 World Food Prize Laureate Announcement Ceremony and later to students from the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES), at the Department of State. I did not find photos from those events, but there was this from her meeting with former South African President Thabo Mbeki and UN Special Representative for Sudan Haile Menkerios, at the U.S. Department of State that day.

Continuing to rock the blues, this timea powder blue, she was on Capitol Hill early on Thursday morning with traveling buddies Secretary Gates, Secretary Chu, and Admiral Mullen to testify in favor of ratification of the New START Treaty.

Back at the State Department, the same day, she hosted visiting Indian Parliamentarians.

Then yesterday she began the day with remarks on World Refugee Day.

Hosted Danish Foreign Minister Lene Espersen.
She ended her busy day and week with a ribbon-cutting at the new George P. Schultz Center at the Foreign Service Institute where she raved about the new technology at the Institute and in the new building and adorably remarked that she wished the State Department building had wireless throughout. Noting that she has a running discussion with someone named Ken about that. It was so cute that I am ready to jump in the car, run to Home Depot and the computer store and get the stuff to lay the cable myself for her.
