NOVEMBER 28-30 — WHILE SUPPLIES LAST

It is possible that your Hillary friends already have Hard Choices - perhaps even signed.   In that case I strongly recommend another memoir from Hillary's State Department.  The Dispensable Nation by Vali Nasr is excellent.  An advisor to Richard Holbrooke at the State Department and strong Hillary Clinton ally and supporter, Nasr provides his account of efforts by the Secretary of State and the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan (SRAP) to bring peace to the region.  It is the book Hillary did not write and serves as an informative backstory to Hard Choices.

 

In the event you are thinking of something a little pricier, another cool idea would be to get a Nook, Kindle, or other tablet and pre-load it with e-copies of both of these.

A Special Thanksgiving Message

As we prepare to take a day or two off from our busy work lives to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends, the staff at Too Small to Fail would like to take this opportunity to express gratitude for the work of our partners, colleagues and friends. We couldn’t do what we do without you.

Thanks to the work of our many partners and supporters, we’ve been able to reach millions of parents, caregivers, early childhood educators and policy makers with information about how to help secure a brighter future for all children in America. From New York City to Oakland, California, we have established relationships with incredible organizations and individuals who are committed to helping children succeed by improving early vocabulary and math skills, strengthening social skills and empowering parents with tools to help them improve their children’s early learning.
We look forward to continuing this work in the upcoming year, even as we count our many blessings and lessons from the past year.
And a special thank you to all of you who work so hard to make a positive difference in individual children’s lives—whether your own children or those of others. Know that your work matters, and the time you take to talk, read and sing to the babies and toddlers in your life—even if just for a few minutes a day—means a lot to their development and well-being.
So, whether you’re braving the roads or skyways to be with loved ones, or are wrestling a turkey into your oven or vegetables into a pot, we hope you get to enjoy some quality time with the little ones in your life. And if you’re looking for a fun activity to explore with your child during the next few days, here’s an easy one we found that highlights gratitude and encourages together time.

Hillary Clinton Honored at Child Mind Institute Gala

Congratulations, again,  are in order for Hillary Clinton as she has been honored once more, this time with the Child Mind Institute Child Advocacy Award.

Child Mind Institute 5th Anniversary Gala

It was an emotional evening for the Child Mind Institute as we celebrated our fifth anniversary last night at the annual Child Advocacy Award Dinner at Cipriani 42^nd Street. The evening's honors went to Hillary Rodham Clinton, who received the Child Advocacy Award, and Dr. Thomas R. Insel, director of the National Institute of Mental Health, who accepted the Distinguished Scientist Award.

Secretary Clinton saluted the efforts of Harold Koplewicz and Brooke Garber Neidich, Child Mind Institute's co-founders, to fight the stigma that still surrounds mental illness. She told a story about the daughter of a friend who was being treated at the Child Mind Institute, who said to her mother: "If I had cancer and I was getting better everybody would be so happy for me. I am getting better, because I now know more about what to do, and I'm getting the help I need, but no one is celebrating that."
Clinton, whose foundation Too Small to Fail also focuses on early childhood development, closed with this:

We need to help the Child Mind Institute draw attention to the mental health needs of our kids, fight to remove the stigmas that keep them in the shadows, and speak up for those parents working their hearts out to get their children the care they need. We need to honor the dedicated professionals exploring the frontiers of brain science and providing cutting-edge clinical care, and keep asking ourselves what more we as cities, states, and our nation can do to continue giving hope to so many who need it.

Hillary Rodham Clinton eulogized prominent environmental lawyer Thomas A. Twomey Jr. at his funeral in East Hampton on Saturday, recalling how he helped her connect with everyday Long Islanders and win her Senate seat from New York in 2000.

Hillary spoke Friday night at the New York Historical Society 2014 History Makers Gala.  The event took place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.  She was on stage with Aspen Institute CEO Walter Isaacson and Wynton Marsalis.
