Statement from President Bill Clinton and Secretary Hillary Clinton on the Passing of Congressman John LewisWe have lost a giant. John Lewis gave all he had to redeem America’s unmet promise of equality and justice for all, and to create a place for us to build a more perfect union together.
From a small farm in Alabama, to life-risking service in the civil rights movement, to three decades in Congress, he was always “walking with the wind,” steered by a moral compass that told him when to make good trouble and when to heal troubled waters. Always true to his word, his faith, and his principles, John Lewis became the conscience of the nation.
Hillary and I loved John. We were blessed by his friendship, support, and wise counsel. We’ll miss him so much, but we’ll always be grateful to God for his long good life, and grateful that he lived to see a new generation of Americans take to the streets in search of his long sought “beloved community.”
Our hearts go out to his son John-Miles and the entire Lewis family, his able loyal staff, and all who loved and admired him the world over.

Hillary Clinton Checking In
This is a difficult time. Medical professionals, grocery store employees, delivery drivers, mail carriers, firefighters, police, nursing home employees, and other workers are putting their health and safety on the line to get essential goods and services to the rest of the country. Meanwhile, millions of families are trying to balance work, childcare, homeschooling or distance learning, shopping, cleaning, and more -- all while staying inside.

As for Bill and I, we’re catching up on reading, watching TV, taking walks while keeping our distance from others, organizing and filing stacks of paper that we let pile up, and staying in touch with our grandkids. Even though these times of separation are difficult, please remember that those of us who can stay home are helping to save lives by doing so. And even though we are apart, we are stronger together.
Whatever your situation, thank you for doing your part. And if you’re struggling, know that the entire Onward Together family is thinking of you.

Bill and Hillary Clinton Lending a Hand
Not only was this deed good for the hospital staff, it was a nice boost for Mr. Nick's.
Doctors and nurses on the front lines of the battle against coronavirus are facing unprecedented challenges. Some hospitals, especially in New York, are overwhelmed with patients, and hospital staffs are working tirelessly — sometimes without the proper protective equipment. On Thursday, one hospital in the area received a meaningful thank-you gesture from some famous New York residents. "Amazing !!! I am an ER doctor at Dobbs Ferry NY and just received pizza from the Clintons," tweeted Dr. Angela Cirilli, who works at St. John's Riverside Hospital and Dobbs Ferry Emergency Medicine in Westchester County.
"Thank you !!!! We NEED LEADERS LIKE YOU in this tough time. So much gratitude I didn't know how else to reach you to say thank you - Angela cirilli, MD," her tweet continued.

On Thursday night, Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, along with ten of her closest childhood friends, took in a performance of “Tina – The Tina Turner Musical.”
As the curtain comes down on Act I, the ensemble chants “Tina! Tina! Tina” following a pivotal moment in the legendary performer’s career. When curtain descended on Thursday, the sold-out crowd burst into applause for the show which quickly transitioned the audience intoning, “Hillary! Hillary! Hillary!”

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said she knew there was concern about President Bill Clinton nominating a 60-year-old to the Supreme Court when he picked her in 1993.
“Some people thought I was too old for the job,” Ginsburg said Wednesday night during a conversation with Clinton and Hillary Clinton at Georgetown Law Center in Washington. She paused a beat.“If you worried about my age, it was unnecessary,” she said. Read more >>>>
Ginsburg is now 86 and entering her 27th year on the court. She and the Clintons reminisced about the old days at an annual lecture named for her.
Bill Clinton repeated that he knew within 10 minutes of interviewing then-Judge Ginsburg that he would offer her the job, although his first choice was New York Gov. Mario Cuomo.

Farewell to a Giant!
His daughter Adia quoted Eminem. Kweisi Mfume quoted Sartre and Frost. Staffer, Harry Spikes quoted Bruce Lee and The Lion King. And, of course, many quoted Elijah Eugene Cummings, aka 'Bobby.' It was a celebratory sendoff for a true Lion of the House. The recessional was 'Lift Every Voice and Sing' as you have never heard it before. We will not see his like.

Elijah Cummings was a resounding voice of moral courage who fought the good fights for the people of Baltimore, and faithfully honored his oath to protect and defend the Constitution with a passion, skill, determination, and dignity rarely matched in our history. He worked for affordable, quality health care, educational and economic opportunities, and environmental justice for all Americans. And he led the House Committee on Oversight and Reform in finding facts, exposing fictions, and demanding that our government be accountable. Hillary and I are grateful to have served with him and for his friendship. Our thoughts and prayers are with Maya and the Cummings family.
