School students and the community will participate in a Day of Action
for Little Rock, benefitting the Arkansas Foodbank

decade after the Clinton Presidential Center first opened its doors on
November 18, 2004, President Bill Clinton, Former Secretary of State
Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton will host “
The Work Continues: Celebrating 10 Years of the Clinton Presidential Center,” a weekend-long series of events commemorating the 10
th Anniversary of the Center and highlighting the work and impact of President Clinton’s lifetime of service held November 14-18.
The
Clinton Center has served as a premiere educational and cultural venue,
an extension of the classroom, and a cornerstone of the Little Rock
community. The Clinton Center includes offices of the Clinton
Foundation, the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum, and
the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. Located
within a 30-acre park on the banks of the Arkansas River, the Clinton
Center has helped revitalize downtown Little Rock.
Throughout his
more than 45 years in public service, President Clinton's work has
spanned many roles – attorney general, governor, president, founder of
the Clinton Foundation – and is all tied together by a singular
commitment to building on what works and a belief that the future can be
better than the present. Reflecting on the first 10 years of the
Clinton Center, the weekend will highlight his continued commitment to
strengthening communities and empowering people everywhere to live their
best life story.
With support from Presenting Sponsor Coca-Cola,
the Clinton Foundation has invited friends, family, alumni, and
supporters to participate in the weekend. The events will kick off
Friday with a
Symposium on the Clinton Administration,
in partnership with the Miller Center at the University of Virginia. As
they have done for previous administrations, the Miller Center conducted
an oral history project shortly after the end of the Clinton
Administration and will present information from these interviews in
three panel discussions featuring prominent former Administration
officials on domestic policy, economic policy, and foreign policy
including
Alexis Herman, Former Secretary of Labor;
Bruce Reed,
Former Director of the Domestic Policy Council, Chief of Staff to Vice
President Biden, and President of The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation;
Gene Sperling, Former Director of the National Economic Council;
Erskine Bowles, Former Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton, and President Emeritus of the University of North Carolina;
Mara Rudman,
Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and
Chief of Staff at the NSC, Deputy Assistant to the President and
Executive Secretary to the NSC, Deputy Special Envoy for Middle East
Peace at the Department of State, and Assistant Administrator for the
Middle East at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID);
Ambassador Nancy Soderberg,
Former Alternate Representative to the United Nations, and Deputy
Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs; and
Gen. (Ret.) Wesley Clark, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander.
On
Saturday afternoon, Secretary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton will convene a
No Ceilings conversation about community-based solutions to advance
economic opportunity for women and families locally and globally. No
Ceilings: The Full Participation Project is an initiative led by
Secretary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton to advance the full participation
of women and girls around the world. This continues a series of
convenings that No Ceilings has hosted, around the world on a variety of
issues over the past year, to elevate discussions about full
participation of women and girls.
On Saturday evening, the Clinton Foundation will host “
Celebrate 10,”
a musical event that will honor the spirit of the Arkansas community
through an unforgettable night of storytelling and an inspirational call
to serve. Held in partnership with the Arkansas Foodbank, the event
encourages everyone to join the Clinton family – and special guests – to
give back by collecting food to feed Arkansas’s hungry through the
holidays. More details will be announced shortly.
On Sunday,
friends, family, alumni, Foundation staff volunteers and supporters,
Clinton School students, and others will participate in a
Day of Action for Little Rock,
also benefitting the Arkansas Foodbank. Established and led by Chelsea
Clinton, the Clinton Foundation Day of Action program has mobilized more
than 3,600 volunteers, donating 18,631 hours across the country and
world to help make a meaningful difference in the communities where we
work, visit, and live.
On Monday, the Clinton Foundation will host a
panel of experts who
will discuss both the economic and social impact of the Clinton Center,
as well as how it continues to thrive as a vibrant educational and
cultural venue for visitors of all ages.
Every year, as a “thank
you” to the Central Arkansas community, the Clinton Center offers four
free-admission days, including one commemorating the anniversary of the
grand opening on November 18. Visitors are encouraged to tour both the
permanent exhibits, which tell the story of the Clinton Administration,
and the temporary exhibits, which give visitors an opportunity to always
see something new. This year, in celebration of 10 years, admission to
the Clinton Center will be free for three, consecutive days:

- Monday, November 17; 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Tuesday, November 18; 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

This
oral history project, in partnership with the Miller Center, is a
compilation of archival interviews and reflections about the Clinton
Presidency from those who know it best. Many interviews were conducted
shortly after the end of the Clinton Administration and are being shared
with the public for the first time during this event. There will be
three panel discussions around hallmark issues of the Clinton
Administration, including domestic policy, economic policy, and foreign
policy. The three-panel discussion will feature prominent former
Administration officials and others who will discuss these issues that
defined the Clinton Presidency.

Celebrate
10 is a concert event that will honor the spirit of the Arkansas
community through an unforgettable night of music and an inspirational
call to serve. Marking the first decade of the Clinton Center, held in
partnership with the Arkansas Foodbank, the night invites everyone to
join the Clinton family – and special guests – in making a real
contribution to their community. The event is free, with attendees
bringing canned and shelf-stable boxed food as tickets. Held just before
Thanksgiving, and with a goal of collecting food to feed Arkansas’
hungry through the holidays, this event will celebrate what we all can
do, together, to build a better tomorrow – in Arkansas and around the
world. Sunday’s Day of Action will also benefit the Arkansas Foodbank.

Established
and led by Chelsea Clinton, the Clinton Foundation Day of Action
program has brought thousands of people together for volunteer projects
across the country and world to help make a meaningful difference in the
communities where we work, visit, and live. As part of the 10-year
celebration, we encourage alumni, Foundation staff and volunteers,
Clinton School students, and others to participate in a Day of Action
for Little Rock that will be attended by President Clinton. The Clinton
Foundation will partner with the Arkansas Foodbank, which is the largest
foodbank in the state. Last year, the Foodbank distributed 20.9 million
pounds of food to approximately 300 member agencies in Arkansas.
