5th Annual Hillary Rodham Clinton Year in Review: Installment VI June 2013

On home ground in New York at the beginning of June, Hillary celebrated her long time friend Oscar de la Renta at Lincoln Center and then paid tribute to another when she spoke at Senator Frank Lautenberg's funeral at the Park Avenue Synagogue.  On the 10th the real and verified Hillary Clinton Twitter account appeared and rapidly drew in followers.

At CGI America in Chicago, she announced her early childhood initiative, Too Small to Fail.   While in Michigan for a speaking engagement she made a surprise visit to the Gerald Ford Presidential Center.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg, whose death has sparked a battle over his seat in the Senate, was remembered at his funeral on Wednesday as a tenacious fighter who battled tirelessly for the causes he championed.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recalled that Lautenberg fought for veterans, victims of HIV and AIDS, families trying to keep their children safe from toxic chemicals and "stood proudly with the working people of New Jersey trying to provide for their families, to build businesses like Frank and his two friends had, to pursue the American dream.

Hillary and I were deeply saddened to learn of Senator Lautenberg's passing.

New Jersey has lost a favorite son, the country has lost a great legislator, and we have lost a dear friend and cherished colleague.

Throughout his five terms in the Senate, Frank’s vision of a government that served all of its citizens, particularly its youngest, its poorest, and its veterans, never wavered. He fought just as hard for public education and healthcare as he did to preserve Social Security and Medicare, so that the dreams and opportunities of young Americans could not only grow but last an entire lifetime.

Frank was the last WW II veteran in the Senate, and his ardent support of peace and security—within our borders, in Israel, and around the world—has helped build a safer future for generations to come.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Bonnie, his children, and his entire family.

TRENTON — Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will eulogize U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg at his funeral Wednesday, according to Lautenberg’s office.
