Hillary and Bill Clinton's Statement on the Passing of Ellen Tauscher

If you have been around here long enough, you will remember former California Rep Ellen Tauscher's service as an undersecretary in Hillary's State Department. She was a key figure in the development of the New START, and an early endorser of Ready for Hillary.

Statement from President Clinton and Secretary Clinton on the passing of Dick Lugar

Sunday
Apr 28
2019
New York, NY
Statement
For Immediate Release: April 28, 2019
Statement from President Clinton and Secretary Clinton on the passing of Dick Lugar
Hillary and I are saddened by the passing of Senator Dick Lugar. He was a man of great decency who was widely respected on both sides of the aisle for his vast policy knowledge, especially on foreign affairs, and his commitment to bipartisan solutions. His decades-long work on nuclear nonproliferation, as well as his belief in robust foreign aid, made America and the world safer and stronger. Hillary was proud to serve alongside him in the Senate, and I will always be grateful to have worked with him as President on implementing the Nunn-Lugar Act to reduce nuclear weapons after the end of the Cold War, and passing the African Growth and Opportunity Act. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Hillary Clinton's WaPo Response to the Mueller Report

Once again, Hillary sees a way forward.

Opinion | Hillary Clinton: Mueller documented a serious crime against all Americans. Here’s how to respond.

April 24 at 4:44 PM

Hillary Clinton was the 2016 Democratic nominee for president. Our election was corrupted, our democracy assaulted, our sovereignty and security violated. This is the definitive conclusion of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report. It documents a serious crime against the American people. The debate about how to respond to Russia’s “sweeping and systematic” attack — and how to hold President Trump accountable for obstructing the investigation and possibly breaking the law — has been reduced to a false choice: immediate impeachment or nothing. History suggests there’s a better way to think about the choices ahead.
Obviously, this is personal for me, and some may say I’m not the right messenger. But my perspective is not just that of a former candidate and target of the Russian plot. I am also a former senator and secretary of state who served during much of Vladimir Putin’s ascent, sat across the table from him and knows firsthand that he seeks to weaken our country.
I am also someone who, by a strange twist of fate, was a young staff attorney on the House Judiciary Committee’s Watergate impeachment inquiry in 1974, as well as first lady during the impeachment process that began in 1998. And I was a senator for New York after 9/11, when Congress had to respond to an attack on our country. Each of these experiences offers important lessons for how we should proceed today.

Albright, Rice, Clinton, and Kerry discuss U.S. role on world stage

Left to right: Madeleine Albright, Condoleeza Rice, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry
Four former U.S. secretaries of state shared a stage at Woolsey Hall on April 18 and offered their insights on the state of democracy both at home and abroad.
Madeleine Albright, Condoleeza Rice, Hillary Clinton ’73 J.D., and John Kerry ’66 B.A. — four of the nation’s last six chief diplomats — had a nuanced conversation, which Kerry moderated, that touched on a range of issues, including the degree to which political polarization has affected America’s ability to advance its interests, protect human rights, and promote democracy across the globe.
The discussion was part of “Challenges to Democracy at Home and Abroad,” a two-day conference hosted by the Kerry Initiative at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, an interdisciplinary program that Kerry founded in 2017 to tackle pressing global challenges through teaching, research, and international dialogue. The conference brought together political leaders, journalists, and scholars to approach the problems facing democracy from a variety of angles.

Hillary Clinton: ‘Given the chance, many women will govern and lead differently’

In a conversation that had the audience cheering her on, the former secretary of state talked to Fareed Zakaria about the mess we’re in — and how women can help us get out of it.

Hillary Clinton was not going to pick a Democratic favorite.
“I am absolutely delighted to see this incredibly diverse field, and especially to have more than one woman running for President of the United States,” said the former secretary of state, four years to the day since launching her own presidential campaign. In a surprise interview with CNN host and newspaper columnist Fareed Zakaria that concluded the 10th annual Women in the World Summit in New York, Clinton would, however, offer a little advice to the 18 Democrats who have announced so far.
“I think you really have to do two things simultaneously, and it’s challenging,” she said.
First, she said, you have to present what it is that you want to do: “What is your vision? What is your hope for our country? How do you see the future? What are you going to propose that will make a difference in the lives of Americans and maintain the values, the ideals, of America in a very complex world?”
At the same time, she continued, you also have to be able to counter “the diversion and distraction that we see, unfortunately, working by the current incumbent in the White House. So you have to do that balancing act, and I think that we have excellent candidates who are demonstrating their ability to do that.”

Hillary Rodham Clinton to address ASMSA graduates at 2019 commencement

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will deliver the keynote address to the Class of 2019 at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts commencement at 2 p.m., May 25, at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
“As one of the earliest advocates for the creation of ASMSA, I cannot imagine a better individual to challenge and inspire our twenty-fifth class of graduates as they enter the next phase of their educational journey.  Hillary Rodham Clinton has enjoyed a distinguished career on state, national, and global stages.  In every role, she has been an advocate for youth,” noted ASMSA Director Corey Alderdice. “At ASMSA, we are committed to addressing the needs of students throughout Arkansas, providing young people with resources to bring distinction to our state, and inspire these emerging leaders to embrace their role in a global society.  Secretary Clinton paved the way for the more than 2,500 graduates who have benefitted from ASMSA, and we are honored to have her be a part of our commencement celebration.”
Clinton has served as U.S. Secretary of State, a Senator from New York, First Lady of the United States, First Lady of Arkansas, a practicing lawyer and law professor, and an activist and volunteer for children advocacy groups and health initiatives among other policy issues.
She twice ran for president, first in 2008 against then-Sen. Barack Obama and again in 2016 when she became the first woman to earn a major party’s nomination for president by winning the Democratic Party’s bid.
Public service has been a mainstay of Clinton’s career since her early college days at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass., where she became involved with social justice activism, and at Yale Law School.

Hillary Clinton: Meet the National Democratic Training Committee

Over and over again, this team has proven that the right candidate for office does not have to look a certain way or come from a certain zip code. Instead, what makes a leader is a passion for solving the problems that face our country and our communities, and a willingness to listen. We saw that earlier this year, when the most diverse freshman class yet was sworn into the House of Representatives -- something that would have been unimaginable even a few decades ago.
It may not ever be easy. But our country was founded on the promise that it would change -- that our union would have to be made more perfect.
The National Democratic Training Committee believes that change starts by giving every Democrat the tools to run for office. They work hand in hand with two of our incredible partner organizations, Emerge America and Run for Something, to offer online campaign trainings on everything from fundraising to field programs -- entirely for free.
I’m so proud that Onward Together has been able to support the National Democratic Training Committee. Their work is critical to electing Democrats in thousands of offices across the country now and for years to come. Today, I hope you’ll take a moment to learn more about how their training program works -- and perhaps think about running for office yourself!
