Statement by Dr. Lisa Bardack, Mt. Kisco Medical Group, and Dr. Gigi El-Bayoumi, George Washington University
In the course of a routine follow-up MRI on Sunday, the scan revealed that a right transverse sinus venous thrombosis had formed. This is a clot in the vein that is situated in the space between the brain and the skull behind the right ear. It did not result in a stroke, or neurological damage. To help dissolve this clot, her medical team began treating the Secretary with blood thinners. She will be released once the medication dose has been established. In all other aspects of her recovery, the Secretary is making excellent progress and we are confident she will make a full recovery. She is in good spirits, engaging with her doctors, her family, and her staff.
Her dear friend, Lynn Forester de Rothschild blogged this lovely idea at HuffPo.

18 Million Prayers for Hillary

My mailbox was lit up this morning with messages of worry and concern and love for our Secretary of State. It made me dream that perhaps as a nation, as a world, we could all say a little prayer for the safe and speedy recovery of Hillary Clinton.
For so many years, and in so many ways, she has touched our hearts and changed our lives. Maybe now we can come together to say a prayer that will bring her back to good health.

We are praying for her and for her family while remembering this lovely moment from four years ago.  We are hoping to see her return to her bubbly self soon.

Hillary Clinton's Independence Day Message to Haiti

Haiti's Independence Day

Press Statement
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Secretary of State
Washington, DC
December 31, 2012

On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to send best wishes to the people of Haiti as you celebrate your 209th anniversary of independence this January 1.
As the second-oldest republic in the Western Hemisphere, Haiti blazed a trail of independence that has inspired others seeking freedom and dignity. For more than two centuries Haitians have met and overcome challenges, even in the most difficult circumstances.
The United States is proud to be Haiti’s neighbor and partner today and in the years to come supporting Haiti's work to ensure that every Haitian is able to live up to his or her god-given potential. May this year, and many to come, bring peace, prosperity and stability.

4th Annual Hillary Rodham Clinton Year in Review: Installment XII December 2012

December began very glamorously and with so much good cheer.   For the fourth and final time, Mme. Secretary and President Clinton hosted a dinner at the State Department for the Kennedy Center honorees and a host of celebrities.

Then  she left for what we now know would be her last official trip as Secretary of State arriving first in the Czech Republic and from there traveling to Belgium and a NATO meeting.  Upon arrival in Brussels, she met with Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani  Khar.

Somehow it is appropriate if ironic that the beautiful Secretary of State who began the month in that lovely emerald gown ended her official travel on the Emerald Isle where she and her adoring spouse are so well-loved.

On the seventh, she arrived in Belfast, her final stop as Secretary of State as we now are pretty sure.

Upon her return home, laid low by a stomach virus and dehydrated, she fainted and sustained a concussion causing her to cancel a planned trip to Morocco, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates and her doctors to restrict her to rest at home (no work - although she did read and write an extensive response to the ARB report on Benghazi) and no travel for several weeks.  Since she is only weeks away from passing the torch to John Kerry,  we expect that these are the last of her travel pictures as our most awesome Secretary of State.
Mme. Secretary, you are in our thoughts and prayers.  We wish you a speedy and complete recovery and hope to continue following you no matter what path you choose in 2013.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
And may we meet again within the next few weeks. Here is the archive for December 2012.

Edited to add: This post was assembled and scheduled to publish before the events of the evening of December 30 when our treasured Hillary entered NY Presbyterian Hospital with a blood clot.  Our thoughts and prayers  continue.
