On the Road with Hillary Clinton in Osage, on Hardball, and in Sioux City

Continuing her trek through Iowa today, Hillary spoke at the Osage Public Safety Center.  On the day when President Obama announced stricter background checks on gun purchases, Hillary praised his initiative and reminded supporters that she rolled out her plan to curb gun violence in October.

While in Osage, Hillary sat down with Chris Matthews for a Hardball interview.  She was marvelous.  She stuck to her New Year's resolution not to respond to the jabs from the Republican front runner.  She mentioned the issues people talk to her about on the trail and promised to continue addressing those questions rather than the nonsense coming from Trump.

Hillary shared the reason why she finally decided to run for the Senate.  She was doing a sports event in New York City, and the woman athlete who introduced her told her, "Dare to compete, Mrs. Clinton.  Dare to compete."  Not all of the encouragement from her New York friends made the impression that remark did.

She addressed also her ability to take on the job of commander-in-chief while deflecting the "hawk" label some want to attach to her.

Asked her political stance, she called herself a progressive Democrat who likes to get things done.  It was a cordial interview.  Not a bit adversarial.
