Quiet Handover: From Defense to State

In the picture below, you see our intrepid Secretary of State arriving in Baghdad on April 25, 2009. It was her Saturday Surprise. Well, even as she prepares to speak to the U.N. General Assembly tomorrow, according to MSNBC tonight - specifically the Rachel Maddow hour, the last combat brigade rolled, very quietly across the border from Iraq into Kuwait tonight, and the two-week transition has begun. That transition, specifically, is the handover of operations in Iraq from the Pentagon, the Department of Defense, to the State Department and its able leader, the pretty lady in this picture. She has a lot on those little shoulders, but as I said, she is intrepid. If anybody can handle this phase, she can. I honestly have to say, if there is any moment in history when I think this woman is the best possible person to be in charge of an operation, this is the moment, this is the place.
