The United States and Pakistan Strategic Dialogue Meeting Oct 20-22, 2010
Office of the SpokesmanWashington, DCOctober 20, 2010On October 20-22, the United States and Pakistan will meet in Washington for the third ministerial-level Strategic Dialogue this year. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Foreign Minister Mahmoud Qureshi will co-chair the talks, which represent the commitment of the U.S. and Pakistan to strengthening the bilateral relationship as a broad partnership based on shared democratic values, mutual respect, trust, and interests. It is focused on supporting the Pakistani people and Pakistani democratic institutions.
Nearly all of the Dialogue’s thirteen sectoral Working Groups have set achievable benchmarks and made appreciable progress. This third round of the Strategic Dialogue will provide an opportunity for nine of the working groups to review progress to date in such critical sectors as communications and public diplomacy, water, energy, health, law enforcement and counter-terrorism, economic development, and women’s empowerment, as well as to discuss flood recovery and reconstruction plans.
