Hillary Clinton Hammers the Pfizer-Allergan Merger

Pharmaceutical companies have Americans by the balls (Viagra - is manufactured bt Pfizer) as well as by a number of other organs.  Hillary Clinton, clearly on the side of the consumers, has slammed jacked up prescription costs.
Some of you may have read about an egregious example of this that was in the news yesterday. A drug that’s been around for decades—it wasn’t just invented with new research and new dollars backing that up, it’s been around for decades—that went from costing $13.50 a pill to $750 a pill literally overnight.
That’s price gouging, pure and simple. And pharmaceutical companies that acquire an existing, affordable drug that people rely on it, and then turn around and charge a fortune for it just bet on the fact that desperate people will find some way to pay for it.
At the same time this is happening, top pharmaceutical companies are receiving billions of dollars in tax relief every single year and earning billions of dollar in profits every year. And many of them spend more money on marketing and advertising than they do on research. - HRC  09/22/15

For the uninsured the costs are prohibitive.  Insured consumers' costs transfer to insurance companies, may or may not be covered, and when they are they can hijack billions from the pool.  The pharmaceutical companies profit. The insurance companies try to stay afloat in the muck, and consumers are in a crap shoot with the dice loaded against them.

Under this scenario, the only way the taxpayer wins is via taxes collected by the government from pharmaceutical giants, so the Pfizer-Allergan merger that dominated financial news over the past several days is of special concern to Americans.  Profit-shifting  to a tax-safe haven takes the game up another notch.  It's as old as the shell game. Hillary took a strong stand against this move on Sunday.
