A flurry of candidates are converging on the upper borough this week,
but Hillary Clinton knows where the heart of the Bronx is - Yankee
Stadium! And that is where she showed up this morning for a presser and
appearance with Borough President Rubén Díaz. (His dad, Rubén Díaz Sr., is an evangelical Pentecostal minister, a New York State Senator, and a Ted Cruz supporter.) They spoke to the press
and local residents gathered to see her.
From there, they boarded 4 train and took a short ride. Imagine the surprise of the riders!
Díaz told reporters that the Bronx knows Hillary and her work and is solidly behind her.
Then
the whole crew went to the subway station and hopped on. Nick Merrill
and Huma Abedin, who rides the subway all the time, included.
This New Yorker recognized his former Senator and future president in the station and walked up for a warm greeting.
Hillary's card didn't work right on the first swipe.
But she got in and on the platform.
It looked like this young woman was on her way to classes and in walked Hillary!
New Yorkers are ready for anything any time. This woman seized the moment. She was ready for a selfie with Hillary.
They exited at another170th St. and walked to a diner where she had an interview.
This
dad was overjoyed to introduce Hillary to his little daughter. You
can't see it in the stills, but the baby waved at Hillary.
And on they went to their next destination with Hillary greeting well-wishers.
What a great start to a chilly spring day in the Bronx!
