NBC announced on Saturday, July 27, at the 2013 Summer Press Tour that
the actress, 48, will portray the former Secretary of State and First
Lady in a four-hour miniseries titled
Hillary.
According to
USA Today,
NBC's entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said the miniseries will
likely air before Clinton is rumored to declare herself as a
presidential candidate for the 2016 race.
"She's not going to
probably declare her candidacy for two more years, so this could well
have aired before that," Greenblatt said.
The series will look at
Clinton's life as "a wife, mother, politician and cabinet member from
1998 to the present," NBC said in a press release to
Us Weekly. "The
script will begin with Clinton living in the White House as her husband
is serving the second of his two terms as president. In the years
following, she would eventually become a United States senator, run for
president and, ultimately, serve the country as secretary of state."
