Former President Bill
Clinton and ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be among the
political luminaries speaking at a Thursday morning memorial service for
late veteran strategist Bill Lynch.
David
Dinkins, who credits Lynch with helping him become the city’s first
African-American mayor and later made him a top deputy, will also
deliver a eulogy at The Riverside Church, as will Rep. Charles Rangel,
Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and ex-New York Secretary of State
Basil Paterson.
Lynch died last Friday of complications of kidney disease. He was 72.
Fondly nicknamed the “rumpled genius” for his political insight,
Lynch provided advice on the White House bids of both Clintons, as well
as those of Jackson, Edward Kennedy, Walter Mondale, and John Kerry.
